Meet Our Team 

Jeffrey Laski – President

Jeff oversees the daily operations at S & M Heating & Air Conditioning. Following in his father and uncle’s footsteps, he has continued to grow and evolve the company that they started in 1961. A previous partner, Richard Darin, introduced Jeff to the commercial side of the HVAC business. Jeff still enjoys going out to homes, and making sure the day to day operations are working, and the customers are happy.

On a personal note, he enjoys traveling and is very involved in numerous local and national HVAC committees. An alumni of Michigan State University, he graduated in 1976 with a degree in engineering.

David Hackman – P.E. Vice President

Engineering Department

David started his employment at S & M Heating in April 1993 after graduating from Michigan Tech University. He holds a Mechanical Engineer license in the State of Michigan. David designs and estimates HVAC systems for commercial/industrial buildings and replacement of existing HVAC equipment, controls and systems. Part of David’s day to day responsibilities include Project Manager, engineering and purchasing for commercial projects.

David is married with two boys and enjoys watching them play hockey.  In his free time (which is rare) he enjoys golf, skiing, and reading.

Tal Siegmann – Business Development and Sales

Tal, our newest member of the team, oversees the business and sales side of S & M Heating and Air Conditioning. With vast experience owning his own business and then directing a multi-million dollar enterprise, Tal’s strength is looking at both the big picture and all of the details within. His focus is reviewing current business protocols and procedures and continuing to grow this successful business. Tal’s passion is building wood furniture, with an emphasis in marquetry.  When not working in his woodshop he loves spending time with his wife, Lisa and their three children.

Jay Petit  – Field Manager

Jay has been with S & M Heating & Air Conditioning since 1990.  Prior to serving as the field man, he served 14 years as a Journeyman sheet metal worker. He works with the project management team serving as a liaison between our clients, our employees and our engineering staff. His responsibilities include making sure that all the technical drawings and plans come to life on the commercial or residential project. You will see Jay in the field making sure the job comes in on time and exceeds customer expectations.

When not at work Jay spends time with his wife and three sons.

Jonathan Dado – Engineering Assistant

Jonathan has been with the company since November 2015. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science of Architecture and is currently enrolled in a Master’s Program at Lawrence Technology Institute.

Jonathan prepares the technical drawings and plans under the direction of the mechanical engineer. The majority of the plans are design to build and/or shop drawings that show the detail and assembly of a wide variety of mechanical system.

Jonathan is interested in anything that has to do with architecture, nature, sports, and food.

Kris Vivier – Commercial Coordinator 

Kris started at S & M Heating in 2020. Her responsibilities are to assist daily operations of the office, service department, warehouse and commercial projects.

She loves spending time with her family, enjoys rock hunting and crafts.

Linda Gruss – Service Manager

Linda has over 39 years in the HVAC industry and 15 years with S & M Heating & Air Conditioning. She handles incoming service requests, scheduling, dispatching service techs, executing service maintenance contracts, invoicing, process warranty parts/equipment returns, energy rebates, city mechanical permit applications, order maintain service parts and equipment. She also handles all customer service issues.

As a volunteer Detroit Police Reserve Chief, she serves the Detroit community by providing visibility patrols throughout the city neighborhoods in a police car. She also spends hours riding and showing her beautiful horse.

Cindy Stacks  – Financial Controller

Cindy has been with the company for five years. She handles the financial reports, cost reports, HR, payroll, A/R, A/P and all accounting needs.

Her passion is reading and traveling. Cindy finds joy in art projects and gardening.  But best of all she loves to spend time with family and friends.

Pat Lloyd – Warehouse Manager

Pat handles all shipping and receiving, job site deliveries, clean up and manages warehouse inventory. He can be seen on job sites assisting any way he can.

In his spare time he enjoys gardening and honing his billiard skills.
